ELECTROTHERAPY & Shockwave
An electrotherapy machine (IFC, TENS, EMS) delivers low level current to the muscles through the use of electrodes which are placed on the skin in various parts of the body. These electrodes deliver a small electrical impulse to the nerves, causing the muscle to contract.
Electrotherapy can assist in reducing acute/chronic muscle pain, tightness and inflammation while increasing blood flow to the injured area. Electrotherapy also triggers the release of endorphins which acts as the body’s natural analgesic. Dr. Broddick uses a variety of electrotherapeutic programs such as T.E.N.S (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), I.F.C (Interferential Current) and E.M.S (Electrical Muscle Stimulation).
Depending on the condition being treated, the practitioner will select the appropriate program to speed the rate of healing and help relax various areas of the body.
